The Canon Powershot A 640 is ergonomically designed but it is quite bulky The traditional operating system will be familiar from previous Canon digital cameras and the controls are easy to reach and comfortable to use. The Canon Powershot A 640 has a high resolution 10 Mega pixel CCD. it also features a high quality 4x optical zoom lens and an optical viewfinder and a 2.5 inch LCD screen.
The camera comes equipped with Canon’s smart autofocus system and 21 shooting modes, including full auto, manual, aperture priority, shutter priority and program. other modes include landscape, night, movie, stitch assist, safety zoom and ten varieties of special scenes. A safety zoom feature, new for this model, allows digital zoom without losing image quality. The new Digital Tele Converter emulates the traditional attached tele converter.
The Canon Powershot A 640 can record VGA movies with sound for up to 36 minutes at thirty frames a second with the optional 4GB memory card.
The large bright 2.5 inch LCD screen is ideal for viewing wide angles with the TFT design and the large size makes reading settings and previewing images easier.
canon have enhanced the ‘My Colours’ mode in the Powershot A 640 to give a truly incredible range of effects which do not need additional processing on a computer. Individual colours within an image can be adjusted and in the playback mode Vivid Blue, Vivid Green, and Vivid red are available. also in this mode skin tones can be adjusted both darker and lighter and black and white, sepia neutral and positive film effects can be achieved. The playback mode is new in this model as previous versions only allowed ‘My Colors’ to be accessed while shooting. No special software, tool or applications are needed.
Canon’s Digital Imaging Integrated Circuit (DIGIC) technology allows long battery life, accurate colour reproduction, excellent image quality and smooth operation. The DIGIC chip handles both the image processing and camera functions giving a faster display and lower power consumption than are usually achieved.
